About Fanore

The surf school runs its surfing lessons down at Fanore beach on the wild west coast of Ireland.

Fanore is a small village situated on the north west coast of Co. Clare. It's gaelic meaning "fainne oir" means ring of gold, with reference to its beautiful sandy beach.

It has a small population and its little village has all you need, coffee shop, restaurant, pub, shop, campsite, plenty of accommodation and a good beach break just down the road.
It it a very beautiful place in both summer and winter. The beach is surrounded by immense and breathtaking scenery with no big building developments and tourist hoards.
Surfing at Fanore allows you to really enjoy your surfing and escape the zoo like atmosphere of surfing at some other beaches in Ireland.

Aloha Surf School is located down at Fanore beach. It is an E.U Blue Flag beach, and the first surfing beach south of Galway.

Fanore is located right in the heart of the Burren, an area that recently received the highly coveted UNESCO Geopark Status (www.europeangeoparks.org)

Fanore Beach is one of the nine sites of geological importance that form the basis of the the Burren and Cliffs of Moher Global Geopark

For more information on our Geopark status have a look at www.burrenconnect.ie/geopark/geopark.html

The Burren really is a living landscape and is host to 70% of Ireland's native flora with unusual combinations of Artic, Alpine and Medditeranean plants growing side by side.

It also has the highest concentration of archeological monuments from the Bronze Age and Early Christian Period in Ireland.

The majority off the Burren is designated a Special Area of Conservation so it really is a unique and wonderful place to come visit and take to the waves.
